Recycle jeans

So Gizmodo posted this video a while ago about a special run of recycled denim jeans.  I'm confused why more recycling of denim isn't going on, if there is a "cost effective" manner for doing this I would think that it would be preferable to the trouble of new cotton from the field to be processed.
