Flying man short film

This is scary good. It's crazy how often superhero stories are told with superhero as the central character not focusing on the havoc that falls all around them. To pull a name out of the air take The Avengers. New York was fucked up, the majority of what we saw was the superheros with a small nod to that there were people in the city. The superhero in this story doesn't exist as a super or hyper moral person, just a dispenser of a certain brand of justice.

Digital Short

Sometimes the Journey is the treasure. Some of the animation elements remind me of Aeon Flux and others of Ren and Stimpy. Taken together it's a pretty solid bit of animation with basically no spoken dialogue.

Battle Star Galactica?

I've never seen a single episode of BSG, (or anything related to firefly for that matter so don't use it as a reference point) but this little video piqued my interest.  So honestly and without gushing, give me your pitch on why the show was worth watching?

I'm in the tail end of Season one of Game of Thrones  and have the last few episodes of this season of Trublood to finish, but after that I have no shows on my watch list.

Well that lands distinctly in the cool category

J.R.R Tolkien reads a poem in Elvish.

It is crazy the amount of work that he put into creating languages for these books, even if the books themselves where rather dull reads.  The story itself was amazing, the telling was somewhat lackluster in my opinion.  Call it troll bait if you want, I read the books so it's my opinion to have.

Epic Tea Time

I had a few days off from the internet, and so I have some catch up posts to write. If you haven't watched this, or didn't like Inception... You should just quit the internet.

Perspective and value

Another Ted talk, but worth the time if you have it.  The power of shifting perspective cannot be overstated and I think he illustrated several ways that can help in everyday life. Thanks GAS

Prepare your Mind

Because it's about to be blown!

Yes, that is delicious math right there.  Also we all know that Π ⋅ r!2, Π are round. Cornbread r2
For those that are not huge nerds ! is the logical "not" operator, so it says pi are not square. Pie are round, cornbread are square.

The Demise of guys

Video post today, but it is something that I have been pondering for sometime. In the new world we hear so much about women succeeding, and the importance of making room for women to succeed that, I don't hear that effort being spent on making successful men. I think that the assumption was that men would figure themselves out, and that the fraternity of man was so institutionalized that it wouldn't crumble in a few short decades. I'm not trying to diminish the need for engaging women, just suggesting that men are in need of some order to help us define ourselves as men. I've considered joining some of the now aging Men's clubs in an effort to find that myself. Shriners , Masons (upon reading just now I see that the Shriners are Freemasons), hell most anything. Like most of the other men I know I rarely go out and do things with other guys, I interact as a part of a couple, otherwise I pursue my own hobbies in isolation. No I'm not complaining about my hobbies or how I choose to spend my time only that I feel disconnected and I think that is germane to what this Ted Talk is talking about.

Cross post from a blog I follow called Geeks are Sexy. The guy that runs the show over there helped me early on to keep blogging when I was still in the hundred and under post range. Is this just a US thing or do other guys feel it to?

I love contextual advertising

I was reading this post on Geeks are Sexy blog in Google Reader, a post all about cake, and at the very bottom was a diet advertisement. I personally find that hilarious.
