SeaFair!!

I am getting a little giddy, two more days until SeaFair! Beer, sun and Hydro racing; mostly the first two. Our benevolent host has seen fit to limit one of the more irritating people to one day on the boat, so Sunday (aka the day of debauchery) should be twice as much fun.

For some reason Saturday is "family day" and Sunday is when the party gets started. I predict (Johnny Carson style with the envelope to my head) that Monday is going to be rough. The Diamond Knot not so pale ale will debut next to my beer nerd friend's Naughty Scotty Scottish ale. Here's hoping 10 gallons of beer gets us through the weekend. If there was a way for me to just skip Friday and jump straight to the weekend I would. Don't mind me I'll be over here dreaming about beer and the weekend.

As always a big F*ck you to the great state of Texas, the person I'd most like to share a beer with might get one air mailed to her. I think it is illegal, so I still working on the details of this thought. This is America, I literary cannot believe there isn't a way to mail booze to your friends!

Bottle works

When I went to visit my friend in Colorado for his graduation about 5 years ago, we went to a giant beer store. I had never been to a store where there where brewery representatives running a buy a 6 pack get one to go promotion, turns out Colorado has a different set of laws with regard to open containers of alcohol than Washington. Either way I have never been to one of these shops in Washington, but Seattle Beer Authority is in my area and might be worth a trip.

Seattle May actually get it

I saw in the Seattlest recently that Seattle had dropped the price of compost bins from $100 each to $25 each or $40 for a pair! I had looked at the units before and balked at the cost of starting a composting setup, but $40 is a very low barrier of entry. So bravo Seattle for subsidizing seattlites who are interested in reducing their waste stream.

Sometime doing your part sucks (Aka Seattle buses suck)

I have been driving myself to work for as long as I can remember. Even when my job was only 15 minutes away, and I lived on a good bus route I drove. Recently, (largely as a result of my reading so many sustainability blogs) I have started to ride the bus. I realize that this isn't earth changing or anything; and I don't expect a medal or gold star, (I will take a cookie though) but I wish that trying to to be a concerned citizen didn't cost me so much time.

When I started the bus ride home took almost the same amount of time to get from work to home as it did for me to drive, 15 minutes. Lately the construction and miscellaneous issues have cropped up be it protesters, rain(which seems to turn the residents of Seattle in to morons) or the bus driver deciding to run for a bathroom break. I have not made it home in less than an hour this whole month, that is when the bus arrives on time! I have been averaging an hour to an hour and a half to reach home.

Given the number of people that ride the bus, and the number of buses in Seattle, the construction companies should not be allowed to waste so much of so many people's time. What is worse, much of the construction is because of Vulcan (Paul Allen) so my time is being wasted because he wants to build fancy pants Bio-tech campuses, overpriced condos and a stupid trolley car. I wish that there was a way for me to cost him as much time as his ruining of South Lake Union is costing me.
