Brewing tomorrow

I have to get my shit together, but I have bought all the ingredients for brewing tomorrow afternoon.  The first run on my cooler mashturn was only about 50% efficiency, so I'm looking to crush that tomorrow but took the precaution of buying Dried Malt Extract(DME) in case I need to bump up my Original Gravity(OG) before the boil.

Here is the recipe I'm working off of: Pumpkin Cranberry Ale

Is it dangerous to brew at home? I mean, is there a chance that it can be toxic somehow?

    1. Ha, well I suppose there is a way to make toxic beer but in theory the worst it would give you is the runs not death. Alcohol makes for a pretty inhospitable environment and Hops have antiseptic properties to keep the really creepy things from growing. Normally the concern is with contamination with wild yeasts like Brettanomyces or Lactobacillus which from most people's perspective is ruined beer. For me I'm blending a soured beer with this one so I'm not as concerned.

  10. Great way to spend an afternoon.
My brews always end up like vinegar which is a huge source of embarrassment to my dad who's a head brewer...lol
